We’re excited to introduce Catena, a collaborative effort designed exclusively for leaders and innovators within the MediaTech Industry.
About
Interoperability in hybrid cloud environments is no longer optional – it is foundational to how modern media systems operate.
Catena emerged from the collaborative work between the IABM Control Plane Working Group and SMPTE RIS OSA, bringing industry expertise together to address one of the sector’s most pressing technical needs.
The result is Catena – an open-source public committee draft SMPTE standard, known as the ST 2138 suite, designed to control and connect media processing services and devices across multi-vendor, hybrid cloud environments.
Its purpose is to simplify secure, standardised communication – making it easier to integrate products from different companies, orchestrate services, and manage complex ecosystems.
By participating in this group, each company not only helps to advance interoperability within the industry but also earns recognition as a trusted leader making a meaningful contribution to the future of the industry.
IABM’s goal is to build something that no single organization could create alone – a shared resource that elevates standards, accelerates progress, and demonstrates the collective strength of our MediaTech community.
