The session will debate the Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) reference architecture, the MXL project and CBC’s e250 project, as well as discuss how they all relate together.
IABM’s Business Intelligence Unit and CTO office see the innovation in software-defined applications for media production as a massive opportunity for our industry. The Media eXchange Layer initiative and Dynamic Media Facility reference architecture present a pathway towards the next generation of tools for the industry.
“The launch of the Media eXchange Layer initiative has already started to catalyze the introduction of a new generation of interoperable and open-source software for media production that can be hosted on generic IT compute resources, in the cloud or on-premise, as per the Dynamic Media Facility reference architecture,” confirmed Stan Moote, CTO IABM. “IABM understands our members want to be ahead of the curve and given the relevant information and knowledge, in a timely and useful format, which is vital to our members business success, and I’m looking forward to providing that detail.”
“MXL and DMF are strategically and technically important for our members. One of the many benefits of being an IABM Member is that we attend the critical events, tradeshows, conferences, etc., and report back in a digestible format that members can access when it suits them. Stan will provide a comprehensive overview of this event, including his thoughts and suggestions as follow-up for our members as we navigate this new era of software-defined workflows,” said Saleha Williams, IABM CEO.
In addition to the presenters (François Legrand – Senior Director Innovation Hub at CBC/Radio-Canada and Mathieu Rochon – Senior Technical Advisor at CBC/Radio-Canada), there will also be an exclusive, MXL hands-on session to test drive the Memory eXchange Layer SDK, mentored by CBC. Participants must bring their own laptop (Windows 11, Alma Linux, Ubuntu Linux, or macOS — Windows 10 is not supported) and should complete the preparation steps outlined in the following Git repository.
For those interested in attending themselves, registration is essential, regardless of in-person or virtual attendance. For more information on IABM’s review of the event, please contact stan.moote@theiabm.org.
