The IABM Impact Awards™ , sponsored by Avixa, have now closed and we’d like to thank you for your submission. Reserve your seat for the winners presentation here.

So, what happens next?

  1. 25 – 29 August 2025: The judges will be sent all the information provided for the process to start on Monday 25 August.
  2. 1 September 2025: The head judge will make any final decision if there is a tie for an award.
  3. 3 September 2025: The shortlist will be announced via individual email, as part of a wider email to all members, uploaded to the IABM Impact website, included in a PR and on social media.
  4. 3 September 2025: All shortlisted companies and individuals will be sent a graphic to promote their achievement to be used as part of their pre-IBC awareness campaign.
  5. 11 September 2025: All shortlisted companies and individuals will receive a free-standing plaque for their IBC stand to promote involvement in the awards.
  6. 13 September 2025: The awards ceremony promoting the shortlist, as well as announcing the winners and presenting trophies, will be part of IBC on Saturday 13 September from 6 pm in the IABM Hub.
  7. 13 September 2025: A photographer will be at the event, taking photos of all those attending, as well as the winners. These images will be utilised as part of a PR, email, website and social media campaign. In addition, all winners will receive digital graphics for them to use to promote their success, together with access to the variety of pictures taken throughout the evening. Finally, all winners will also be given a physical plaque to replace the shortlist one to be showcased on their IBC stand. It will look great alongside the actual trophy!

IABM Outstanding Innovation Award

This award recognizes a person/team that has broken new ground through original and bold ideas. We’re looking for standout examples from the past year where innovation has driven measurable impact in technology, operations or partnerships. If your team has introduced a new way of working, created a unique product or reimagined a process to deliver better results, this is your chance to showcase how you’re setting the standard for what’s next.

 

HELPFUL HINTS

Innovation – how innovative, bold and NEW is the project/product/operation? What makes it outstanding in its field?  

Impact – Is there clear and tangible evidence of the impact of the project/product/operation and its positive effect on results/outputs?  

Future Benefit – Is there a clear and evidenced long term benefit to the new approach? Will it change/improve the business going forward?

This award celebrates individuals who are not only specialists in their field of broadcast and media technology, but also inspire and encourage colleagues and customers. We’re looking for people who have made a real difference over the past year, driving innovation, understanding and investment in their teams to embrace the collaboration between technology and creative.

HELPFUL HINTS

Impact To what extent is the positive impact of the nominees’ work evidenced? Who has been affected? How and why? How significant has been the change in approach? How has the nominee’s positive influence led to a change in behavior, culture or business approach – and is there evidence of this?  

This award highlights individuals who have gone beyond managing, to truly inspire. Whether steering their team through change and challenge, championing a new direction or leading by example, these leaders shape culture, encourage innovation and drive real progress. Nominees can be from any level, but must demonstrate how their leadership has made a measurable impact over the past year. We’re looking for those who have brought out the best in others and made a lasting difference within their organization or the wider industry.

HELPFUL HINTS

Leadership The submission must provide evidence that the nominee is in a leadership role – leading teams or individuals through a period of change or challenge.  

Impact To what extent is the positive impact of the nominees’ leadership measurable and evidenced? Evidence could include personal testimonials, improved business outcomes, culture change or implementation of new initiatives. What progress has been made and how is this demonstrated?  

This award acknowledges an individual or team driving real change and collaboration as part of the convergence between the broadcast and AV industries, helping to influence how people communicate and experience the world. Nominees should demonstrate the impact their involvement has achieved

HELPFUL HINTS

Convergence – To what extent does the nominee sit at the intersection of broadcast and A/V? Is there evidence of collaboration or integration of systems, practices and approaches? What have they changed about these two sectors are working together?  

Impact To what extent is the nominees’ impact on the wider AV/Broadcast ecosystem evidenced and measurable? What opportunities have been created or taken to bring the two sectors closer together? This could be through innovative use of tech or by collaboration across teams.  

This award promotes companies that are actively building a more sustainable future through meaningful action. From cutting emissions to embedding eco-conscious practices into products, operations or supply chains, this is about measurable impact, not just promises. We’re looking for individuals or teams that can demonstrate how their sustainability initiatives over the past year have led to real, certifiable progress. Whether you’re improving internal processes or driving change across the industry, this award celebrates organizations turning ambition into action.

HELPFUL HINTS

Action – To what extent has the company evidenced significant and meaningful action in their sustainability approach. Can they prove that are actually doing what they say they are doing?  

Impact – Does the submission include clear and unambiguous evidence of real-world impact as a result of their actions?  

We want to celebrate people and organizations that are actively creating positive change beyond their business. This award recognizes standout initiatives from the past year that have made a tangible impact to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) whether through involvement in charities, education or empowering staff through volunteering. If your company has gone the extra mile to support its community, we want to hear your story.

HELPFUL HINTS

External Impact To what extent has the company’s actions impacted on other external organization(s)? There must be evidence of impact on this outside body, whether it is a charity, other NGO, or community-based scheme. 

Whether they work in technology, operations, production, or support, these Individuals or team members consistently deliver above and beyond, driving results and boosting those around them. We’re looking for nominees whose dedication, initiative and impact have helped their organization thrive over the past year. From solving problems to supporting colleagues or improving performance, this award recognizes those who definitely make a difference.

HELPFUL HINTS

Above and Beyond – To what extent has the nominee gone beyond normal expectations of them to boost performance/result, etc.? This could be through developing junior team members through mentorship, advocacy or attitude.  

Impact – What evidence is there that the nominees’ work has delivered real impact on their colleagues/team members? This could be through personal statements and testimonials or showing business or culture change.  

This award honors exceptional individuals under 30 who are shaping the future of their company from the inside out. We’re looking for young team members who have brought meaningful change over the past year, streamlining workflows, driving collaboration, improving customer experience or helping their teams succeed. If you’re working with someone whose energy or initiative deserves recognition, now’s the time to put them forward.

HELPFUL HINTS

Evidence of Impact – Does the submission provide clear evidence of the nominees’ impact in their field. What difference has the young person made to the company/project etc.? How have they impacted their own career progression and/or the success of the business?  

Energy and Initiative – Does the nominee show a willingness and ability to go above and beyond in delivering results?  

 

IABM wants to celebrate innovative new projects that push the technical and creative boundaries of our industry. This award recognizes a project team for an outstanding project (delivered within the last 12-months) that delivers impactful new possibilities that weren’t available before: a showcase for technology innovation that will resonate with end-customers by solving problems and elevating their potential.  

HELPFUL HINTS

Timescale – Was the project delivered/completed within the last 12 months and on time?  

Innovation – To what extent does the submission represent innovation in its’ field? Is there compelling evidence it solves a significant problem or address an issue which was a barrier before?  

Challenges – Does the submission outline the challenges faced (e.g. team, budget, stakeholder input, time management) and how these were overcome?  

Impact – Is there evidence that the project has had a significant and important impact?   

This award is to recognize IABM members that have made breakthrough achievements through collaboration and partnership across the industry. IABM is seeking companies that can demonstrate impactful outcomes from multiple organizations working together for mutual benefit within the last 12-months. We want to spotlight examples of where sharing access, knowledge, resources and other partnership models have brought benefit to IABM members and the wider industry.  

HELPFUL HINTS

Partnership – There must be clear evidence of the involvement of at least two organizations/companies, working together co-operatively.  

Impact – Is there clear evidence that the results of the collaboration have produced meaningful and significant outcomes of benefit not only to the participants in the project but to the wider Media Tech community and end users?  

 

The Judges

The IABM Impact Awards™ are judged by an internationally respected panel of broadcasters, organizations, consultants and media, with Luiz Padilha being the head judge.

Luiz Padilha

President, Padilha Consulting

Luiz Padilha has nearly 40 years of experience in senior executive roles at Sony, initially managing Sony Professional Brazil and responsible for several categories including Broadcast/B&I/Projectors/digital photo/security and medical with annual sales of nearly US$100M. Industry reputation and relationships with organizations such as TV Globo studios, 1st IP OB Van W.W, several international events such as FIFA Soccer World Cup and the Olympics, he was responsible for establishing the first production line for video projectors out of Japan. He has contributed to the implementation of ISDB-T standard for digital transmission in Latin America and holds the position of board member of the SET (Brazilian society of Engineering) and France-Brazil House and is a judge of Produ Technology awards.

Sarah Joyce

Chief Global Officer, AVIXA

As Sarah Joyce is AVIXA’s Chief Global Officer, overseeing the association’s global membership, certification, councils, and international trade shows. In addition, she sits on the boards of Integrated Systems Events (ISE) and InfoCommAsia Pte Ltd, as well as other regional operating units. She is also the Executive Director of the AVIXA Foundation. Sarah has worked in the AV industry for more than 25 years and has a breadth of international business experience across Europe, Middle East, USA and Asia, working with integrators, manufacturers, distributors, and end users within the enterprise, entertainment and professional services markets. 

Vijaya Cherian

Publishing Director, BroadcastPro Middle East

VijayaCherianis Managing Partner and Publishing Director at CPI Pro Media, where she leads BroadcastPro and SatellitePro Middle East magazines. With more than 23 years of experience covering the media and entertainment sector, as well as the space and satellite sectors across the Middle East and Arab Africa, she has shaped industry dialogue through print, digital and live platforms. A recognized conference producer, she is known for bringing together regional and global voices to share ideas and drive industry conversations. 

Phil Sandberg

Publisher, Content + Technology

For over 21 years, Phil Sandberg has held the role of Publisher for APAC industry resource Content+Technology, overseeing its coverage of TV, radio, audio and streaming technology for professionals throughout Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. He is also the conference manager for leading industry events including ABE – the Australian Broadcast Exhibition and Content Live – the Technology Show for Sportscasting, Newscasting & Live Events. In the late 90s/early 2000s, he was a journalist for the IBC Show Daily. 

Seth Rogers

Director AI, Kendryl

Seth has worked on AI from small chip design to massive hyperscale data centres for production services like Search, Maps, and modern AI for companies like Google, OpenAI and Anthropic. He has taken industry-changing ideas from concept to production, including Google Maps, mobile payments, Apple Pay, AI Chat, and generative video. An ESG and sustainability industry technology champion, Seth is also a Board Trustee for the UNEP-WCMC United Nations Environmental Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre.

Carrie Wootten

MD, Media Talent Manifesto

Carrie is a global leader for skills, education and diversity across the media technology industry with over 20 years’ experience. She is the CEO and Co-founder of the Global Media and Entertainment Talent Manifesto, which focuses on delivering a wide range of programs and initiatives, working collaboratively with companies across the globe. Carrie was previously the MD and Co-Founder of Rise, a membership organization working to address gender diversity across the industry and was also the Head of Industry Partnerships at Ravensbourne University. She was nominated for the RTS Technology Centre Leader of the Year Award 2024. 

Geir Børdalen

Head of Technology Portfolio, NRK

Geir has spent 40+ years at Norwegian Broadcasting Corp as media tech, journalist, tech leader, head of news technology, project manager (publishing, logistics, studios) and (now) head of technology portfolio in CTO staff. He has worked with NRK on their modernization program (architect, advisor, investments), as well as new building projects (Oslo, Trondheim). He specializes in making radio and TV production facilities as an environment where creative people can excel, using AI for the common good. 

Matt Stagg

Creative Technologist, MTech Sport

With over 30 years of experience across sport, media and telecoms, Matt is an award-winning creative technologist and the founder of MTech Sport. He works with leading broadcasters, rights holders and global technology companies to drive innovation from strategy through to delivery, covering product development, technology integration, marketing and fan engagement. He focuses on how technology can transform storytelling, elevate fan experiences and unlock new creative and commercial models across live, immersive and interactive formats. Beyond consultancy, he is a respected industry commentator, a regular contributor to leading publications, a frequent speaker at major global events and collaborates with startups, accelerators and innovation programs to turn ambitious ideas into meaningful, real-world outcomes.
