By Saleha Williams, IABM CEO
As we observe International Women’s Day, it is the perfect moment to shine a spotlight on a leader who doesn’t just occupy a seat at the table – she helped build the room. At IABM, that person is our Chief Finance and Operations Officer, Lucy Meek.
This year, we aren’t just celebrating 50 years of IABM. We are celebrating a monumental milestone: 20 years of Lucy’s brilliance, dedication, and heart at IABM.
Two Decades of Impact
Twenty years in any industry is impressive, but 20 years in the fast-paced world of MediaTech is a testament to extraordinary adaptability, and Lucy has been so much more than a C-suite executive. While the industry transitioned from tape to file, hardware to cloud, and broadcast to multi-platform, Lucy has provided the steady hand and strategic foresight that enabled IABM to thrive. Her tenure is defined not just by what she has done, but by how she continues to do it as IABM moves into its next exciting phase.
Wisdom Meets Innovation
Lucy’s influence is woven into the careers of countless professionals across the globe. She has consistently “played it forward,” acting as a mentor, coach, and support to women and men across the IABM team and the wider IABM global membership – literally hundreds of people around the world! She remains as invested in our newest graduates as she is in our board members, offering the wisdom that only two decades of experience can provide.
For the team, as IABM enters its next chapter, Lucy is a vital pillar, ensuring a seamless transition and supporting a future-focused strategy.
More Than a CFOO
Across the industry, our members recognize her as a collaborative force: someone who listens, solves, and leads with a unique blend of empathy and executive precision.
It’s easy for long-tenured leaders to rely on “the way things have always been done.” Lucy does the opposite. She continues to lead with energy and creativity, constantly helping to innovate our internal talent, operations, and external member value. She understands the DNA of MediaTech, yet she is the first to embrace the new, ensuring that IABM remains relevant in an ever-shifting landscape.
So, this International Women’s Day, we want to celebrate Lucy: her resilience and generosity have not only anchored IABM for two decades, but they also continue to help steer us with confidence into this bold new era.
Lucy, thank you for 20 years. Here’s to everything that lies ahead.
